We’re making exciting changes to GMT’s Route #1 (Williston) and Route #11 (City Connector) to improve service frequency and better connect you to South Burlington’s new City Center on Market Street.
What’s Changing?
Starting August 25, 2025, Route #1 and Route #11 will work together to provide service every 15 minutes between Downtown Burlington and the South Burlington City Center during peak travel times. That means:
- More buses, more often between key destinations
- New stop locations along Market Street to serve City Hall, the library, and new housing developments
- A simpler trip—just check the bus headsign for either Route 1 or Route 11 heading your way

With the improvements listed above, the #11 will no longer serve the front entrance of UVMMC.
Why This Matters
This coordinated service gives you fast, frequent connections through one of the fastest-growing parts of our region. Whether you’re commuting, shopping, or connecting to other routes, your trip just got easier.
What You Should Do

Fare Changes
#11 City Connector: This route currently operates fare free between Burlington and the UVMMC. On 8/25, we will reinstate a fare on this portion of the route. The fare free service currently causes confusion.
Getting to the Front Entrance of UVMMC
To reach the front entrance of UVMMC via Routes #1 or #11, exit at the University Heights bus shelter. There is a pedestrian-friendly path to the entrance of the medical center. Route #2, Essex Junction, will continue to serve the front entrance of UVMMC.
