Beginning Monday, September 21, Green Mountain Transit will operate a new morning Neighborhood Special to help students from Burlington’s Old North End and New North End travel to Lyman C. Hunt Middle School, John J. Flynn Elementary School, and Burlington High School.
This new route was added in large part thanks to a petition brought forward by Hunt Middle School students, who spoke up about the need for improved transportation options for students traveling across Burlington. GMT appreciates the students, families, school partners, and community members who helped bring attention to this important connection.
The new trip will depart from the Downtown Transit Center at 7:30 AM and serve stops along N Union Street, North Street, and North Avenue.
Students and families are encouraged to review the route and stop information before the new service begins on Monday, September 21. Please plan ahead and allow extra time during the first few days of service as riders adjust to the new trip.
