Beginning Monday, August 24, the #96 Franklin County Commuter will follow new, more direct routing between Burlington and Saint Albans.
The updated route will bypass underutilised stops along Route 7 and use the interstate through portions of Winooski, Colchester, and Milton. This change is expected to make afternoon trips an average of 10 minutes faster.
Closed Stops
As part of the new routing, the #96 will no longer serve the following stops:
- Water Tower Hill at Albany College of Pharmacy
- Severance Corners
- Creek Farm Plaza
Riders who currently use these stops will need to choose a different boarding location. Please review the updated route map and schedule before the change takes effect.
The #96 will continue to serve major destinations and transfer locations, including:
- Downtown Transit Center
- UVM Medical Center
- Winooski Falls at Champlain Mill
- Chimney Corners Park & Ride
- Catamount Industrial Park
- Milton Town Office Park & Ride
- Georgia Park & Ride
- Northwestern Medical Center
- Saint Albans Park & Ride
Traveling to Water Tower Hill
Riders traveling to or from the Water Tower Hill area can still connect to the #96 Franklin County Commuter utilizing the #9 Winooski/Riverside at the Champlain Mill.
Riders can take the #96 to Winooski Falls at Champlain Mill and transfer to the #9 for service to Water Tower Hill. Riders beginning their trip in the Water Tower Hill area can take the #9 to Spinner Place at Champlain Mill, walk across the street, and transfer to the #96 at Winooski Falls at Champlain Mill.
Please allow additional time for the transfer and review both schedules when planning your trip.
Important Note:
With the current detour in place at the corner of Winooski Falls Way and Abenaki Way transfering between the #9 Winooski and #96 Franklin County Commuter is as follows:
Riders can take the #96 to Spinner Place at Champlain Mill and walk to the VSAC building on East Allen Street to transfer to the #9 for service to Water Tower Hill. Riders beginning their trip in the Water Tower Hill area can take the #9 to Spinner Place at Champlain Mill and transfer to the #96 at Winooski Falls at Champlain Mill.
Plan Ahead
All riders should review the updated departure and timepoint times, as the new routing changes when buses arrive at stops throughout the trip.
